Our team

Mary originally trained in psychology and teaching. She then spent 20 years as a family lawyer with Legal Aid ACT. She was head of the family law section for about 13 years. She has training and experience as a family dispute resolution practitioner and as an independent children’s lawyer. She has recently retired from full time practice and works as a lawyer part time.

Her interest is in assisting parents to find arrangements that are developmentally appropriate and workable for children. She works in tandem with our psychologist Helen for all conciliation/mediations. She is happy to work with parents with or without lawyers.

Helen is a registered psychologist. She has worked in therapeutic settings with children and families and in services that provide child focused counselling following family separation.

For most of Helen’s career of 30 years she has worked as a Court Mediator, Family Consultant, Senior Family Consultant in both the Sydney and Canberra Registries of the Family Court and Federal Circuit Court of Australia.  She has also worked in private practice.
